FundScrip 2016 Year in Review

Another year of fundraising is in the books, and we wanted to recap some of the fun and interesting things that happened here at FundScrip in 2016!

Reloadable Gift Cards and the FundScrip Wallet

We were very excited to launch reloadable gift cards this year. It was one of the most requested features. Although only a relatively small number of retailers are offering reloadable gift cards at the moment, we will be adding more retailers over time. We can’t wait to see how much money our groups can raise once we have reloadable cards for every retailer!

In order to make the reloadable gift cards a reality, we also had to improve the FundScrip Wallet. Now you can see the balance of compatible gift cards, in addition to being able to filter and mark your spent cards to be archived.

We Went Contest Crazy

We went a little crazy with the contests in 2016. But that’s OK, because we love them, and we know you do too.

The following are all the contests we ran this year:

  • Win a $100 Spafinder Gift Card
  • Win a $100 Gift Card of Your Choice for Spring
  • Win Free Gas for a Year (Value of $2,267)
  • Win a $100 Gift Card of Your Choice for Back-to-School
  • Win Free Food For a Year (Value of $1,560)
  • Win a $100 Gift Card of Your Choice for Black Friday
  • Win a FundScrip Gift Basket for the Holidays (Value of $500)

That’s $4,727 worth of gift cards and prizes we gave away this year. Thank you to all the participants, and congratulations to all the lucky winners!

New Retailers

There were only a few new retailers this year, but we live by the mantra of quality over quantity, and we had some quality additions this year.

Specifically, we were super happy to add Amazon.ca, as it had been one of the most requested retailers. Adding the ever-popular A&W and Bass Pro Shops wasn’t bad either.

Look for some other great retailers to be joining soon!

Toronto District School Board

All of you Toronto based schools in the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) can rest easy now since we’ve been added as an approved fundraiser in their fundraising guide.

Joining the Conversation About Healthy Fundraising

Keeping our students healthy is an important topic, therefore we were honoured and delighted to have been mentioned as a healthy fundraising alternative for schools, hospitals and other institutions.

It began with an article on the WeightyMatters.ca blog, and continued with an inclusion in a Canadian Press article on the same subject that was picked up by newspapers across Canada.

On top of all that, we can’t forget to mention the most important thing of all; we also helped more groups raise more money in one year than ever before!

Happy holidays, and on to the new year!
