Kincardine public schools have been getting creative with their fundraising initiatives. By selling gift cards for local businesses they have been generating funds for education and extracurricular activities for six years.
Kincardine District Secondary School's current initiative kicked off in February and has already raised $85. The schools receive back between 3-10% of the gift card amount, depending on the business involved. My Wraps, New Orleans, Sobeys, Subway, Tim Hortons and McDonald's are participating.
"We want to involve the community and the students more," said Carol Blake, FundScrip administrator. They are encouraging students who eat off campus to use the gift cards.
