6 Ideas to Engage Your Supporters in Person at Fundraising Events

FundScrip is a very effective fundraising program, and at first glance you might get the impression that running a FundScrip campaign happens entirely online. However, the FundScrip groups who raise the most money are those who make the effort to engage with their supporters in person.

One of the best ways to engage with your supporters, or potential supporters, is to set up a FundScrip table wherever your supporters will be congregating, and to help you succeed with your FundScrip information table, we put together a few simple tips to help you be prepared and reach as many supporters as possible.

1. Pre-Purchase & Sell Popular Gift Cards in Person

When selling in person, since gift cards need to be purchased in advance, make sure you offer participants gift cards they actually want. Grocery stores, coffee shops, pharmacies and gas gift cards are no-brainers; you’re less likely to leave with unsold gift cards.

2. Print & Distribute Paper Order Forms

A great way to make it easy for new supporters is to take down their orders using paper order forms. Make sure to include instructions on how and when you expect the order forms back along with payment, and equally important, how and where the supporters can subsequently receive their gift cards. Make a poster with all the retailers you do not have in stock so they can easily find their favorites and order them.

3. Sign Up Supporters On The Spot

Set up a laptop or tablet computer and sign up supporters on-the-spot. Keep your group’s invitation code handy, then instruct potential supporters to sign up at your table with their email address on the “Support a Group” page. Make sure to keep some FundScrip brochures on hand to show people how the program works.

4. Draw Attention With an Attractive Booth

During events, it is really important to have a table that draws attention. By doing so, people will instantly be drawn to your kiosk and intrigued by your offer.

5. Tell Your Story

The main reason why your cause/project is important is the story behind it. Don’t be shy to share what makes it special and why you are doing a fundraiser; people will feel more involved.

6. Say Thank You

You only need a simple card or a handful of candies to say thank you to those of support you. This will ensure they remember you in the future.

We know it can sometimes be hard to find motivated supporters who order consistently, but we’re confident if you reach out in person by following these simple tips and setting up a FundScrip information table at your next group event, you’ll be surprised how many devoted supporters you’ll find!
