Community Living Dufferin Raises over $31,000 with FundScrip

Community Living Dufferin, located in Ontario, has started a fundraising group with FundScrip in 2009 with an inspiring mission: "Promote equal opportunity and respect for people who have developmental disabilities by listening to them and supporting their choices to achieve the lives they want." The group has raised over $31,000 since then with monthly orders.

Darlene Morrow, group administrator, has answered a few of our questions.

Can you tell us about your group and what you’re raising money for?

Community Living Dufferin has been supporting, encouraging and providing choices for people with disabilities since 1954. The majority of our funding comes from the Ministry of Community and Social Services but with the cost of everyday items increasing faster than our funder can provide, we depend on fundraisers such as this to keep our budgets in the black.

How has your experience been so far with Fundscrip?

Fundscrip is an easy fundraiser. Nobody is required to make purchases that they do not want. We use FundScrip to purchase grocery cards and other items such as gas. We receive an automatic refund for our everyday purchases! There is some tracking required but our Financial department has assisted with that process. FundScrip has also been helpful when we have had to cancel or track lost cards.

What is the key to your success with the FundScrip fundraiser?

There is no committee required to run this fundraising project and there are no pressure tactics used to get people involved. Purchases of FundScrip cards are made on a monthly basis for items people need to buy every day. Easy to use, easy to track!
