FundScrip groups are often raising money for interesting goals, or to travel to exciting destinations. One such group is fundraising to help finance their participation in the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles , an off-road rally race for women taking place from March 18th to April 2nd in the Moroccan Sahara Desert. The race also raises awareness for the event’s non-profit organization, Coeur de Gazelles, whose mission is to provide medical care to the local population who live in remote regions of Morocco.

We recently caught up with race participant, and FundScrip group administrator, Nathalie Breton to ask her a few questions about her participation in the race.

Tell us about your participation in the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles

I’ll be participating for a second consecutive year in the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles, the oldest 100% female rally. It’s an off-road rally that has brought women together from more than 33 different countries for the past 26 years. I decided to participate for the second time the day I got back from the first rally, on April 4th 2015.

What drove you to participate in an event like this?

It’s the love of adventure, the feeling of transcendence, the sense of accomplishment I feel when completing a challenge, and to participate in an event that’s for me, from me. It’s getting out of my comfort zone to confront the unknown.

What was you fundraising goal?

This time around, we didn’t have a specific fundraising goal. We knew we wanted to participate no matter what.

Where did you hear about FundScrip?

In 2010 I heard about FundScrip from a co-participant of the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles. She had used the FundScrip program for her own fundraising. Incidentally, she went on to become the most diligent supporter of our group after completing her own FundScrip group.

What do you think of your FundScrip experience?

I found the experience amazing, very unique, easy to use, and safe. I suggest it to everyone I meet who is looking for fundraising programs.
